I have been collecting rugs and textiles for more than thirty years, working with many different dealers and so-called experts in the field, always with the goal of enriching my collection with truly meaningful pieces.
For many years, I had heard of Mr. Amir and knew his name, but I never had the chance to meet him personally until today. After finally spending time with him, I honestly wish I had been able to know him much earlier.
Meeting Mr. Amir was a remarkable experience. For the first time in decades, I felt that I was not only buying carpets, but truly learning what a carpet is — its essence, its technical identity, its symbolism, and the language through which a carpet speaks. He has an extraordinary ability to explain how a rug finds its rightful place in a serious collection, and what qualities truly matter when selecting an authentic piece.
After more than 30 years in this world, I can sincerely say that today I learned something new: how to distinguish rugs on a deeper level, and what principles guide a true collector.
